I’ve always known that fruit was good for me and that I should eat a certain amount per day. While living in Spain and Italy I was able to eat fresh fruit quite regularly, though I never consciously checked how many items of fruit I was eating per day.

As part of my diet, however, I am being “told” what to eat and how much of it. Fruit plays an important part of the diet.

But I honestly don’t think I could actually eat much more fruit after the last few days. I’ve been eating apples and bananas and adding various other fruit to a range of cereals. It’s been great, but I think there’s a limit on the number of bananas you can eat in a single day.

You probably can’t overdose on fruit, but varying the fruits more can go a long way to making it all a lot less repetitive (obviously!)

I don’t know if it’s overdosing, but eating too much fruit probably isn’t the best for you . Fruits like bananas are high in sugars, which are good for you in certain amounts, but you do have to be watch that you are not eating more than 2 of them a day. Otherwise you are just substituting one sugar for another one.

True. I was surprised to discover that fruit can have almost as bad an impact as confectioneries, though I’d maintain that eating a load of oranges is still better than pigging out on sweets 🙂

As you know I’m a huge Weight Watchers fan & although on their ProPoints plan fruit is zero points, they recommend no more than 5 portions per day. I would count 2-3 tangerines as one portion depending on their size. hope this helps 🙂

Lee – I didn’t realise that they did that. I always assumed that it was points only – so anything with zero points was essentially free.
